Understanding the Mind

What Is True Mind?

In this teaching, true mind means your original nature, beneath the identity and worldview you have built through experience.

Throughout life, memories, beliefs, judgments, and expectations accumulate in the mind. Together, they form a picture of yourself and the world: what kind of person you are, what is possible, and where you belong.

That picture can become so familiar that it feels inseparable from who you are. It shapes what you seek, how you relate to others, and the meaning you give to your experiences.

Vancouver Meditation Life's approach distinguishes this accumulated mind from your original nature.

True mind is already present,

though the mind we have accumulated can obscure it. Meditation is a path to discovering that original nature within yourself.

What Can Change

Benefits of Meditation

Less overthinking

Spend less time replaying conversations and worries.

Relationships

Recognize patterns and respond with more patience.

Handle stress

Notice your reactions and find room to respond.

A steadier balance

More room for yourself alongside work, family, and everything you carry.

How It Works

3 Simple Steps

  1. 01

    Reflect

Look back at an experience that stays with you, such as a conversation you keep replaying.

  2. 02

    Recognize

Notice the thoughts, feelings, and patterns connected to those experiences.

  3. 03

    Let go

Practise letting go with your guide. You don't need to suppress feelings or erase memories.
